Canadian Solar “remain confident in our position in the Japanese market, both as a module supplier and project developer,” said CEO Shawn Qu.
The company had a 490MW late stage utility-scale project pipeline in Japan at the end of September, and is sticking by its goal to increase that to 550-600MW by the end of 2014.
It was responding to last week’s announcements that the utilities would hit the pause button on grid access for more renewables while they work out how best to integrate the capacity into their strained networks.
