SkyPower reportedly won the project by bidding 5.05 rupees ($0.079) per kWh with no price escalation in the state of Madhya Pradesh – a figure which Bloomberg New Energy Finance said was unusually low, and would likely not be widely replicated for the foreseeable future.
SkyPower said the 150MW project is the beginning of a campaign that will see it build a “significant number of gigawatts in India”, which plans to add 100GW of solar capacity by 2022.
