The government estimates that 18% of Brazilian homes will have some PV capacity in place, a figure that includes the assumption that virtual net metering will be available.
All told, the government sees 164GW rooftop solar potential in Brazil.
Rooftop solar will supply just 0.2% of Brazil’s electricity demand in 2020, the analysis estimates. But the figure will grow to 3% by 2030, and 11% by 2040.
