Mines and energy minister Eduardo Braga confirmed local press reports about the projects while speaking to industry leaders in Rio de Janeiro.
Braga said that pilot projects should be in place within 120 days, without giving details. Braga added that the government is currently putting in place a diversified power supply model in which solar PV will have “vigorous” support.
Newspaper o Estado de São Paulo reported that the floating PV studies are advanced and pilot projects will be implemented on the surface of reservoirs of the 1GW Sobradinho and the 250MW Balbina hydro-dams, respectively in the northeast and northern regions of the country.
