The developers – among them Canadian Solar, FRV/Fotowatio, Solatio, Rio Energy, and Renova/SunEdison – signed a joint letter sent in February to the Mines and Enegry Minister Eduardo Braga, power regulator Aneel and energy planning authority EPE.
They wrote that worsening macroeconomic conditions, rising financing costs and lack of a solar PV supply chain would cause them to lose money.
The government has yet to decide whether to grant the extension.
