By the end of the next decade the government expects some 2.7 million distributed power generation arrays to be installed, up from just over 1,000 in the country and around 15MW today, of which 90% is solar PV.

As reported by Recharge in August, the main pillar of the programme includes measures through which distribution companies will buy 10% their power needs from rooftop solar or other distributed technologies such as small wind, biomass and gas co-generation.
