The regulatory changes include reduced taxes, simplification of connection rules, and permission for the combination of multiple, contiguous arrays to count as one system for net-metering purposes.

With these changes, and further tax exemptions, Brazil's energy planning authority EPE said that Brazil could be on track to have a total rooftop PV capacity of 78GW by 2050, of which 33GW would be rooftop residential, 29GW from arrays on commercial buildings, 13GW from industrial facilities and 3GW from government buildings.
