The trio is part of the Enhanced Frequency Control Capability (EFCC) initiative, led by UK network operator National Grid, which plans to demonstrate rapid, locally-based response to fluctuating supply and demand levels.
UK power regulator Ofgem said the project aims to tackle a growing need for response management, potentially saving up to £200m ($308m) in annual network operation costs by 2020.
