More than 6,000 Australians have already applied for the rebate, which is part of the government’s wider AUS$3.9bn ‘energy efficient homes’ package. The government says it expects to deliver 300,000 solar hot water rebates over the next three years.
The rebate encourages Australians to replace their old electric storage hot water systems with a solar or heat pump system. In addition to the rebate, they also get money from the country’s renewable energy certificate system.
