According to the research group, total demand in the region’s five big markets – China, Japan, India, Australia and Thailand – is forecast to total 17.2GW in the six months to December.
"China and Japan are dominating demand, with about half of all new PV capacity added this year," said Ray Lian, senior analyst at NPD Solarbuzz.
Lian added that about 80% of demand in China is forecast to come from ground-mounted projects, with the commercial rooftop market segment set to experience slower growth than the country had hoped.
