The tender covers the installation by mid-2017 of 7,500 off-grid rooftop PV arrays in rural areas of eight provinces in the South American nation.

Some $58m will be invested in the programme, called Permer II, which aims to supply power to residential, commercial and public buildings in the regions in question. About 70% of the investment will come from a World Bank loan to the Argentine government, with the remainder coming from federal funds.

The government postponed the deadline for handing in bids to 31 October from the original deadline of 17 October.
