The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is reviewing a request by the company that would allow Apple Energy to begin selling power 7 August directly to customers, thus avoiding a role by electric utilities.
Apple says that it now generates and procures sufficient electricity from renewable sources to power 100% of its US facilities and about 93% of those worldwide.
In recent years, the technology giant has been investing in PV facilities in those states as well as North Carolina to supply power for data centers.
