On Friday Southern Power, the arm of utility Southern Company that generates and sells power into various US wholesale electricity markets, revealed its purchase of the 74MW Rutherford Farm solar project in North Carolina from developer Cypress Creek Renewables.
The deal caps a remarkable week-long buying binge for Southern Power, following its acquisitions of two 102MW solar projects, in Texas and California, and a 43MW wind project in Maine.
