Colorado-based Advanced Energy, which supplies a variety of power-conversion solutions, expects to swallow pre-tax charges of up to $290m related to the decision, including $15m in employee termination costs and up to $45m in severance payments.
Inverters accounted for nearly 40% of the company's $580m of revenues last year.
Advanced Energy has long been a major player in the US inverter market.
