Covering around 250 hectares, the facility – located in the municipality of Dibeng in Northern Cape province – consists of 319,600 PV modules.
The modules were supplied by China's JinkoSolar, which opened a factory in South Africa earlier this year.
With 216GWh of electricity generation per year "it will have the highest level of production of all the [PV] plants that are operational in Africa", claimed Acciona.
