Japanese media have reported that developers may have already scrapped plans to build as much as 1.4GW of PV on the island of Kyushu alone in response to the changes, which apply to projects approved for development from 26 January, 2015.

“This is evidence that the new rules have already affected business development,” Mika Ohbayashi, director of the Japan Renewable Energy Foundation (JREF), tells Recharge.
