China’s Trina Solar, the world’s largest maker of solar panels, claimed a new world record for conversion-efficiency of a multi-crystalline PV module, at 19.14%. The record was set by a panel with 60 of Trina’s Honey Plus cells (156x156mm2), manufactured using back-surface passivation (PERC) and half-cell module technologies. The half-cell technology is not currently part of Trina’s Honey Plus PERC line, but “will be incorporated at a later date”, the company says.
