Shareholders of Latin America Power are suing SunEdison in New York, after its planned takeover of the Chile-based wind and hydro developer fell through late last year.

Last May SunEdison announced it would acquire Santiago-based LAP, its 323MW of operating and under-construction wind and hydro power, and its 661MW pipeline in Chile and Peru.

The takeover was to be part of a sweeping set of acquisitions that ran the gamut from a wind-development company in China to renewables plants in South Africa, Uruguay and India.
