The number of distributed solar arrays could rise by 300%, and around 1GW of large-scale PV could be contracted at auctions.
The projections come from the president of the Brazilian Solar Power Association (Absolar), Rodrigo Sauaia, who has intensified negotiations with government entities as the country seeks to avoid a power crisis amid lower-than-expected rains that have kept hydroelectric reservoirs – which supply 65% of the country's power - at critically low levels.
