“The declining costs of renewables make this projection feasible,” said Carlos Finat, Acera's executive director.
This year, the Chilean government will start discussions in the special committees for the 2050 Roadmap in which the goal for 70% of supply from renewables is set. Acera's projection is higher than since it also counts on renewables – including solar, wind, small hydro, biomass and geothermal technologies – to reduce green house gas emissions and replace pollution thermoelectric power plants.
