The turnkey agreement with independent power producer Neoen Australia includes a long-term service contract. Construction of the A$250m (US$182m) project, 200km north of the state capital, Adelaide, will begin immediately.
The power will be sold to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), home of the national capital, Canberra -- 1,000km east of Hornsdale -- under a 20-year supply contract at a fixed price of A$0.092/kWh.
