The higher sales were based on a 30% increase in output year on year, mainly due to the start-up of the Poly 8 facility in Germany in the second quarter of 2010.
Wacker says all of its plants are operating at full capacity. “Customers continued to show an interest in new multiyear contracts involving advance payments," it says, adding that “at the end of the quarter, virtually the entire output planned up until the end of 2015 had been sold.”
