The plant has been occupied by around 25 people since 20 July. The protest has attracted growing support from trade unions and environmental campaigners, who see the government’s stance on the factory as a test of its will to deliver on its renewable energy targets.
The government has said that it cannot do anything to keep the plant open, although it has offered Vestas financial support to expand a blade testing and design facility on the island.
