UN climate treaty negotiations get underway in Germany

The aim is to produce a draft document in the run-up to the final climate negotiations in Copenhagen later this year.

"This first negotiating session is critical for moving the world closer to a political solution to climate change," says Yvo de Boer, executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

"The clock is ticking down and countries still have much work to cover," he says.
