When the ‘green fiscal stimulus’ was first included in the UK’s pre-budget report last November, a number of politicians hailed it as a key step in Britain’s push to become a leader in the 21st century’s emerging low-carbon economy. The funds will come as part of the UK’s larger £3bn stimulus package.

But in a damning critique of the pre-budget report, the UK’s Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) says that both the size and focus of the funds are sorely misguided.
