At the same time, the amount of electricity produced from renewables in the UK rose a more modest 10%, to 21.6 gigawatt hours (GWh).

Of that, 17.6GWh of electricity was eligible for Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs), with most of the remainder being large-scale hydro capacity built before the UK’s current green-energy incentive scheme was put into place.

In total, the UK has seen its ROC-eligible electricity production jump 76% since 2004.
