REE says that renewable energy capacity will grow at a compound annual rate of 9% to reach 39,680 megawatts (MW) in 2016, compared to 20,164 MW now. Of this, some 29,000 MW will be from wind power, and 4,500 MW from solar. Production from renewables in GWh is expected to grow to 17% of total consumption, from 11% in 2008, REE says.
