Siemens, which is the largest provider of wind turbines and offshore grid connections to the UK, says the factory will produce its new direct-drive 6MW offshore wind turbine, creating around 700 new jobs.
The company assessed more than 100 ports in the UK and other North Sea countries in its search for suitable locations for the new factory and has short-listed a number of preferred sites on the East and North East coast.
