PowerBlades, whose 22,000 sq metre facility is adjacent to REpower’s own nacelle plant in Bremerhaven, has churned out more than 1,000 rotor blades for wind turbines since kicking off production in 2008.
REpower chief operating officer Gregor Gnädig says the acquisition will accelerate the company’s expansion into the offshore sector and allow it to grow production in Bremerhaven.
The deal, effective from 1 January, remains subject to anti-trust approval.
