The budget, which is centred on a series of austerity measures aimed at balancing spending and revenues within five years, has done little to resolve uncertainties around key questions such as the future of the renewables obligation (RO) scheme and its possible replacement by a feed in tariff (FIT) for large scale renewables.

“Today’s budget leaves key questions unanswered for the deployment of renewable energy in the UK,” says the Renewable Energy Association.
