REC has steadily shut its Norwegian wafer factories over the past year and a half, pinning its future to its US polysilicon plants and its vertically integrated PV facility in Singapore.
The parent company had given little indication about its plans for winding down REC Wafer Norway, but confirms that after “taking into consideration the overall financial situation of the REC Group and the interests of its stakeholders”, it will cease funding the division – effectively forcing it into bankruptcy.
