The government has introduced regulations for the feed-in tariff (FIT), which offers very attractive rates for renewable energy projects, as part of a sweeping Green Energy Act meant to jumpstart development of wind, solar, hydroelectric, biomass and biogas in the province.
The Ontario Power Authority is to begin accepting FIT applications from 1 October.
FITs have been used with great success in Europe.
