“This has exceeded all of our expectations,” says Lauro Fiúza, president of the Brazilian wind-power association, ABEEólica. He had expected applications totalling no more than 6GW.
“It’s a signal to the government that there is a market, there is ¬investment, there is potential to be explored. It’s an alert for the government to create a long-term wind programme.”
Registration for the 25 Novem¬ber tender closed last week.
