The project, in Ngong, 18 km north of Nairobi, will be financed by a €20m ($29m) loan from the Spanish government, according to the company.
The deadline for companies to submit their tenders is March 16. KenGen, which generates around 77% of the country’s electricity, commissioned a 5.1 MW wind farm in 2009 in the same area.
Lake Turkana Wind Power is developing a 300 MW, €430m wind farm project in the remote Loiyangalani region of northwest Kenya which should start production in June 2011.
