Japan said it will concentrate on expanding its “green economy,” and seeks to create as many as one million new jobs through measures including zero-interest rate loans for environmentally friendly companies.
South Korea said it plans to invest $38bn into eco-friendly projects over the next four years that will lead to the creation of 960,000 new jobs.
The United Nations hailed the two announcements, saying they were the latest sign that the UN Environmental Programme’s “Green New Deal” was gaining momentum around the world.
