India’s offer ahead of the Copenhagen summit follows China’s move to cut carbon intensity by more than 40% by 2020.
According to new agencies, India's environment minister, Jairam Ramesh, is expected to make a statement in parliament tomorrow to announce the targets. Voluntary reductions in emission were first put forward by India in meetings with China last week and follow similar commitments by Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa as well as China.
