The plant, which uses parabolic trough technology cost around €200m to construct and is owned 90% by Iberdrola and 10% by the Spanish government's Institute for the Diversification and Saving of energy (IDAE). The 150 hectare plant has 352 parabolic collectors with 120,000 mirrors.
Iberdrola Chairman Ignacio Galan said that the building of the plant “will reinforce Puertollano’s role as an international energy city and Castilla-La Mancha as a reference point for promoting renewable energy in Spain.”
