However operating margins and EBITDA improved, and Iberdrola pushed on with its ambitious expansion plans, particularly in the US. Iberdrola installed 2.054 MW throughout the year, reaching 10,003 MW of capacity at the end of June, 25.8% higher than in June 2008. The company installed 701 MW during the first half of 2009, including 228 MW in the US, 204 MW in Spain, 125 MW in the UK, and 92 MW in the rest of the world.
Iberdrola Renovables' profits fall but expansion continues
Spanish renewable energy giant Iberdrola Renovables’ net profits fell by 23.5% to €148.5 m, compared to €194.2 m during the first half of 2008, mainly due to lower power prices in Spain.
