Iberdrola Renewables is the recipient of five of the grants, totalling $294.9m to fund wind projects in four states. The Spanish energy giant says its total investment in the projects will near $1 billion.
The grant programme was authorized by Barrack Obama’s economic stimulus bill, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to fill a gap in project financing left by the collapse of the tax equity market.
