The three sectors took in a combined $115.9bn in revenues globally in 2008 – up 53% over the prior year. By 2018 their revnues will hit $325.1bn annually, the report predicts.
The wind energy industry hauled in a record $51.8bn last year - the first time ever that one renewables sector alone made more than $50bn. Global wind power installations reached a record 27 gigawatts (GW) in 2008, including more than 8GW in the US alone.
