The London Array project is being developed by a consortium made up of Denmark’s Dong Energy, Germany’s E.ON, and Abu Dhabi based investment fund Masdar. The consortium hopes that first, 630 MW phase, which will use Siemens 3.6 MW turbines, will be operating by 2012.
BB says the two companies will build the foundations for the 175 wind turbines and two substations at a distance of 20-35 km from the coast.
