The call comes in a communication on national renewable energy action plans and progress on meeting the Community’s targets published on 1 February, ahead of the EU’s heads of state energy summit, which will be held on 4 February. The Commission says that it expects “only a few” member states – Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal to achieve their 2020 interim targets for renewable energy in power generation, while only Austria, Finland, Germany, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain and Sweden expect to achieve their targets for the transport sector.
