Oettinger has increased renewable energy targets in his native state of Baden-Württemberg, although wind sector representatives have also pointed out that the state has done little in the way of actually constructing wind farms. Connie Hedegaard has a strong record as Denmark’s climate change and energy minister – although her chairing of the Copenhagen climate change conference in December has seen her come under fire, with critics saying that Denmark lacked the experience to steer the conference to a successful conclusion, and alienated delegates from developing countries.
