The agreement, which concludes two years of negotiations and hand wringing, will see the EU cut emissions 20% by 2020 compared to 1990 levels -- a figure that will be raised to 30% if an international climate agreement is clinched next year in Copenhagen.
The EU committed itself to sourcing 20% of all its energy from renewable sources by 2020, giving a shot in the arm to both Europe's renewables industry and the fledgling EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).
