Speaking at the opening of the latest week-long round of UN climate change talks in Bangkok, Figueres warned that national action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions still fall well short of what is collectively needed to check climate change.
Figueres called on representatives from the 173 nations attending to provide evidence that they will deliver on the commitments made in Cancun, including pledges to set up a new international Green Fund and accelerate the transfer of clean technologies to developing economies.
