Proposals to revise the 2003 Energy Taxation Directive will be on the agenda of the new Commission, says Thomas Carroll, a senior executive at the directorate-general for taxation and the customs union.
The outgoing Commission had hoped to have already adopted proposals but work was halted until the Lisbon Treaty could be ratified to prevent controversial tax proposals affecting the treaty’s chances of approval .
