DONG Energy steps up wind investments in first half of 2009

Denmark’s DONG Energy massively stepped up capital expenditure in the first half of 2008, with a big share of investments going to the wind energy sector.

However, it is planning to cut back its spending from its previous estimates in 2010 and 2011.

The company invested DKr8.5bn during the first half of 2009 in new and existing facilities, compared to DKr2.79bn ($537m) in the first half of 2008. This includes DKr3.33bn on the development of wind energy activities, including DKr0.7bn for the purchase of wind turbine installation company A2SEA; DKr0.91bn
