The consortium says it is investing €300 m in the plant, which it says will be completed in 2011. The plant uses parabolic trough technology and will cover 160 hectares. It will utilize molten salt tanks that will allow it to store electricity during the night time hours, using technology similar to that of the Andasol I and II plants in Andalusia.
Dioxipe starts construction of 50 MW thermal solar plant
The Dioxipe consortium made up of Aries Ingeniería, Elecnor and ABN Amro Global Infrastructure Fund has started construction of a 50 MW thermal solar plant near Badajoz, in the Extremedura region of Spain.
