Climate change likely to trigger future wars, UN says

According to a new UN report, 17 of the world’s most high-profile violent conflicts since 1990 have revolved around natural resources.

The report, “From Conflict to Peace Building -- The Role of Natural Resources and the Environment”, suggests that any peace-brokering efforts must not only engage the issue of natural resources now, but also bear in mind the likelihood that climate change will increase droughts and food shortages in the future.
