China’s largest polysilicon producer, which is one of the world's leading wafer suppliers, is looking to expand in US and European markets as well as other parts of Asia.
"We are confident that the solar industry will bring about significant business opportunities going forward as governments all over the world such as the US, Germany, France, Spain, China, Japan and Korea have initiated or are about to initiate solar subsidy programmes to encourage the adoption of solar energy,” it says.
GCL-Poly is in the process of setting up a joint venture with China Investment Corporation (CIC) to invest in solar farms globally, and says: “We are also exploring opportunities to further expand our wafer production capacity through strategic acquisitions and partnerships.”
